3 | The first day at the gynaecologist

After picking Heilig Hart, it was time to schedule the first specialist visit. Appointments are not too hard to get, was my first impression. I gave them a call. We needed an hour that suited both Koen and me. The immediate next week, I would be in Brussels all 5 days for special sessions, so this couldn't be an option. The one after then.  One availability was on the Monday at 17h. Just perfect for both. So we took it. September 18, 2023 : We arrived and registered in HHL. Its my first time at this hospital although the location of the hospital is prime...right in the hub of town. We waited for our turn.  We get called in. Didn't immediately felt warm at the doctor's. But I usually limit my expectations when visiting one. The talk begins. Estimates of the delivery (using a cyclical map) were already made. She looked at the bloodworm and asked about family history. Koen's family has 2 cases of cleft palate. Upon mentioning, I was told to raise my dose of Folium (support...

2 | The first GP visit

What an interesting weekend we just passed. In just 2 days, I realised how fast my mind can travel in how many diverse directions! September 4, 2023 : It's Monday. My usual day at the office. Walking to the Ixelles office, I made a call to the GP for an appointment. Had to find something that worked for both of our agendas. They gave me 06/09 in the afternoon. Another 2 days of wait... September 6, 2023 : Koen and me went to visit the GP. The routine followed. Blood sample taken, weight measured, supplements followed.  The questions for the GP came next. We would've to decide which hospital to go to. Heilig Hart is a natural choice as it's well regarded for maternity and pregnancy in town.  I have already begun to get nausea symptoms. I would be hungry suddenly and at the same time have no appetite for anything. Thinking of most foods would give me a nauseating feel. I've all of a sudden lost all interests in non-vegetarian food. Luckily, having grown up in India meant ...

1 | The first discovery

What is it about life that's so unique? Easy answer for me here: The uncertainty of it all!! As much as we seek control over it, life only shows how unpredictable and full of surprises it is! Saturday, September 2, 2023 : My periods are delayed by over 2 weeks and I can feel subtle changes in my body. The period tracker has been reminding me to get a ' test ' done. Will we be reminded to breath as well one of these days with apps for god knows what not! I nicely ignore the reminders and continue about life! Yet the heart knows something's cooking... Our friend is visiting today. We are hosting. While I wait for them to buzz the doorbell, Koen and I get into the period talk. Already a week has passed since I had thought of taking the test, but didn't. There's no reason really why I didn't! I can only speculate...  So as we were speaking, I decided to give the test a go! After all, the test kit has been sitting in the washroom for more than a week now. As I wa...
